The Australian Government has ordered a mandatory recall of vehicles with faulty frontal Takata airbags. This recall must be completed by 31 December 2020. Ferrari Australasia will complete the recall in stages over the next year.
For more information about Ferrari's mandatory recall of Takata airbags or should you have any concerns regarding the recall, you may contact Ferrari via our designated phone number 1800 234 392 or otherwise make an enquiry via the ACCC at: https://www.productsafety.gov.au/contact-us/for-consumers/make-an-enquiry.
Please note that, if you had your Takata airbag replaced by Ferrari Australasia prior to 1 January 2018, you may require a further replacement to ensure long term safety (Final Remedy). Please use the above "Check my vehicle" tool to determine whether a further replacement is required
According to the ACCC, as a faulty frontal Takata airbag gets older, a combination of high temperatures and humidity can affect the airbag. If your vehicle is affected and you are involved in a collision, the airbag can go off with too much explosive force causing sharp metal fragments to shoot out and kill or seriously injure you and other people in the vehicle.
The faulty frontal Takata airbags use either Phase Stabilised Ammonium Nitrate (PSAN) without desiccant or PSAN with calcium sulphate desiccant.
